Asturias overview

The province of Asturias sits right up in the north and although missed by most tourists to Spain, it has hundreds of beaches, incredibly beautiful mountains and safe cities. Gijon and Oviedo are the main centres - the largest city and capital city respectively – and both these places have plenty of allure for tourists. Beaches are the main draw at Gijon, while Oviedo has a raving nightlife. Asturias’s star attraction, however, is the stunning Picos de Europa National Park, which sits down in the southeast of the province. Be aware that Asturias folk speak their own language, although there’s no need to panic as they will also do Spanish for you. Asturias Airport is in Aviles near Gijon.
