Lanzarote overview

Lanzarote Travel Guide
Lanzarote is the smallest of the big four Canary Islands and is known for its rough, grey, volcanic landscape. All but a few of its beaches are of the grey, volcanic sand type, apart from those that have cheated and have had the sand brought in. Don’t let this dissuade you from chilling out on the beach though, as the lava is long gone and the grey does not rub off. Lanzarote is less touristy than the likes of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, but is no less accessible as it has an airport in its capital, Arrecife, which is not worth spending much time in. Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca are two of the main resorts, while the interior has the best walking in the island chain. Those into lunar-like landscapes should definitely check out Timanfaya National Park on the west coast.
