Pontevedra overview

Pontevedra is located in the Spanish province of Galicia. Depending on what you are looking for in Spain, Galicia is very different to the usual tourist resorts you find here and is often compared to the likes of Cornwall or Ireland. Galicia’s rugged coastline is un-lovingly called the ‘Costa de la Muerte’ or ‘Coast of Death’ because of the many shipwrecks found along the coast here. Actually, the daunting coastline is very picturesque with sandy beaches, tiny coves, small fishing villages and high cliffs. The area is very popular with Spanish tourists who come to escape the heat and possibly the European tourists from the busy southern beach resorts.
