Salamanca overview

Salamanca has been described by many as Spain’s youngest old city. Old as in beautiful historic architecture, young as in it’s a university town so there are many students and bars. The University of Salamanca is one of Europe’s oldest universities dating back to the early 13th century. If you are looking for a fun nightlife, Salamanca is great with bars and clubs staying open until the early hours. A popular hang out is the Plaza Mayor, which is possibly the most elegant square in the whole of Spain; an impressive feat seeing as almost every city and town in Spain has a Plaza Mayor.
